This month seems to have gotten away with me. I blame midterms, preparing for your sister’s birthday, and the normal March-blahness.

This has been a busy month for us! Daddy and I went for a 3D ultrasound and found out that you’re a girl! Monkey is very excited to meet her baby sister, by the way.

Here you are yawning:

and a few of you just being cute:

We also got a few clips of you moving around. You’re constantly moving throughout the day. You kick and squirm and punch – somedays it feels like you’re busy moshing to your own music in there. The videos showed us just how fidgety you are.

I also had an appt with the midwife. Everything is great. You’re measuring a few days ahead of your due date, and I’m hoping that this means you’ll come a tad early, as opposed to on-time and being in the double-digits. Here you are from the outside at 21 weeks. We’re a little over 22 weeks now.

We had our big ultrasound this week – the one that showed us how all your fingers and toes are there, you have the right number of heads, your innards are all developing nicely, etc. We were hoping that we’d find out if you’re going to be Monkey’s little sister or little brother. Unfortunately, it seems that you were feeling a big shy that day because you insisted on keeping your feet and legs tightly crossed. For added measure, you also made sure that the umbilical cord was wrapped under you, too. We’re discussing how it’s possible for you to be 18 weeks in-utero and already be defying us.

Everything looks great, though. You definitely have your daddy’s profile.

15 weeks, 5 days

We had our appointment with the new midwife today. Oh, she’s great! Seriously, I’m in love.
Unfortch, the hospital is pretty ghetto. The midwife assured us that the birthing rooms are all brand new, and that she insists that all her patients go to the new rooms. So, yay! Overall, I’m really happy with this new midwife. The people in the office are all so incredibly kind and patient. There’s still a slight issue with the insurance, but they say that they’ll try to work it out. For now, I’m taking deep, calming breaths.

Daddy came along and got to hear your heartbeat for the first time. Then, we got a surprise – we actually got an ultrasound to see how far along I really am. Yay!!! I have another ultrasound in three weeks, and we’re hoping that you cooperate so we know if you’re a pink bean or a blue bean.

After the appointment, I went to the bank. As I was standing in line, an older gentleman sang “Won’t You Be My Valentine” to me. So sweet. I smiled like an idiot the whole time in line, then smiled as I crossed the street to get veggies for tonight’s dinner. I’m still smiling as I type this. It was so great getting to see you, and so unexpected, that it just made my day.

= )

Say hello!
